Justice

Justice.  It's a topic of great importance.  We recall the prophet Micah and his response to the people longing for direction.

"He has showed you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8)

Yet the word justice is notoriously hard to define.  The word justice invokes thoughts of what is right, what is fair, and what is just.  But who deems what fairness looks like?  There are obvious images of injustice that still prevail across our landscape.  Racial injustice, injustice in the criminal system, injustice in schools, injustice in leadership and power in countries abroad, etc.  There are also those subtle turns of injustice that we may neglect unless we are the victim, that we may ignore unless we are held accountable.  What is right and just?  We rest in the vision and hope of God who we believe defines and displays right relationship and right use of power.  At High Street Church we seek to discover God's justice in the story of scripture and to participate in acts of God's justice in the world.

These are High Street Church's efforts

to be a beacon of justice in our community and around the world.
